RBS Group
Mobile banking
The outcome
RBS decided that there would be a good response if they opened a branch in Deer Park. They acknowledged their experience of running a mobile bank in the area had backed up the residents’ claim that there was enough support to run a profitable branch.
The residents bought the building from Clydesdale and were delighted to sell it on to RBS who then updated and refurbished the property.
The bank organised two changeover evenings to help customers switch bank accounts to RBS. The branch is now open every weekday and is doing well. Individual customers and small businesses can take full advantage of the local, friendly service.
The enterprising residents of Deer Park were named as the Scottish Community of the Year and have gone on to share their expertise with other small communities who face a similar problem.
