Linklaters' principles

The values and principles which motivate the people who work for Linklaters are the 'glue' that keeps the firm together. They create an environment that:

  • Guarantees an excellent service for clients
  • Attracts and keeps the best people, who win the best work and the best clients
  • Is challenging but supportive
  • Gives everyone the opportunity to develop their potential.

The principles that guide Linklaters

Top three 'motivators':

  1. We believe in getting things done – if there is a way we will find it
  2. We want to be recognised as the best in everything we do – we will go the extra mile to achieve this
  3. We build strong relationships with clients and with one another – we know these are essential to achieving results and making work rewarding.

Top three values:

  1. We strive for excellence
  2. We value teamwork and encourage imagination
  3. We are determined – whatever the challenge we will deliver. We do this with good judgement and integrity.

- Quality of service
- Profitability of the firm.

Working with the community

Linklaters gives support to local communities through their Community Investment programme.

The focus is on three core areas:

  • Achievement
  • Enterprise
  • Access to Justice.

This is a two-way process.

Linklaters' staff shares their expertise with community partners through pro bono work, or by volunteering to help out on specific projects. The firm also directly funds some projects

In return, the Linklaters staff gain new experiences, learn different skills and make good connections with the people in the community.

Examples of Community Investment projects include Hackney Legal Connections Clinic where Linklaters' staff provide free quality legal advice and the Mary Ward Legal Centre, where Linklaters' volunteers from the employment department advise on such things as unfair dismissal and equal pay. Another example is the Linklaters' work involved in setting up the Wholesale Loan Company which is used as a case study on this website.
