What happened?

Capital One decided to take the lead in helping their customers to:

  • Protect themselves against the dangers of ID theft
  • Deal with the situation if they become the victims of ID fraud.

Capital One created an ID theft service which provided:

  • A named advisor to provide help at every stage if a cardholder discovers they have been a victim of ID theft
  • Expert advice to resolve the case including advice about who to contact at other financial institutions and organisations that might be affected
  • An advice guide containing ID theft prevention tips and early-warning signs so that cardholders can make sure they are doing everything possible to protect their ID.
