Castrol India is well on its way to reaching full driving safety standard compliance in over 1,000 contracted vehicles.
Collision, injury and fatality rates involving trucks carrying Castrol products have been reduced dramatically.
Other major companies have recognised the value of what has been achieved through the programme and are now demanding the same standards for the transport of their products. The truck drivers who have completed their training are now in demand from other companies.
Items in transit in these new trucks are less likely to get damaged.
Drivers report a sense of satisfaction and dignity in their work which did not exist before.
Overall, the forward thinking initiative of the managers at Castrol has helped saved lives, created safer roads for everybody. There is an encouraging change in drivers’ attitudes and an improvement in their driving skills and behaviour.
Since winning the Helios Award, Castrol India has shared its ideas with its BP colleagues in Iran, China, South Africa and South America.
Castrol makes it safer for people to work for them … from 15 collisions before working for Castrol to only 2 minor incidents since being with them – all thanks to Castrol.
