Who is BP?
BP is one of the world's largest energy groups, providing its customers with:
- fuel for transportation
- energy for heat and light
- retail services
- petrochemicals products for everyday items like plastics, soaps and detergents.

BP is a multi-national group working in more than 100 countries around the world. Many different groups of people – often called stakeholders – are connected with BP:

- Hundreds of suppliers
- Millions of customers in six continents – BP’s worldwide network consists of more than 24,000 service stations.
BP is structured into two key areas:
- Exploration and Production - there is active exploration in around 30 countries
- Refining and Marketing - BP has 17 refineries across the world.
In addition, BP Alternative Energy is responsible for developing alternatives to deliver low carbon energy for the future and to enhance energy security, outside BP's core oil and gas activities.
BP is made up of a number of brands. A brand is a symbol, logo and/or slogan that a company uses to make itself instantly recognisable to the general public. A brand is one of the most powerful aspects of a company’s marketing and sales strategy.

The Helios, named after the Greek god of the sun, was inspired by the sunflower – reflecting BP’s commitment to more environmental ways of producing energy.
The Helios is a pattern of interlocking shapes. Like BP, it is a single entity created by many parts working as one.
BP in the next decade
BP is expanding its work in alternative energies such as solar power and wind power. Greater use of these technologies could help to reduce carbon emissions that contribute to climate change.
